Race Description

The Starfish Races has been designed to appeal to all runners with three events;
Full marathon
Half Marathon
10.5k relay (teams of four)
We are pleased to announce chipped timing will be used this year.
Runners compete over a 10.5k looped course along the picturesque Bexhill Promenade.
The event is UKA licensed with the course having been officially measured so can be used to obtain 'best for age' times.

Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal.
There are engraved trophies for the winners of the ladies & men's marathon plus half marathons with engraved medals for each runner up & 3rd place. The winners, runners up & third place from the 10.5k relay each receive an engraved medal.
There are also four spot prizes of a bottle of champagne & each runners number will be entered into a free draw to win £100.

The Course........ predominantly flat with two short inclines at the eastern turn that gives entrants a good opportunity of recording a PB. With sea views along the entire course you also enjoy at the eastern turn views looking over Glynde Gap to Hastings & at the western turn across Pevensey Bay to Eastbourne & the South Downs. Race HQ & Start/finish

The Race HQ is the Bexhill Rowing Club which is sited on the prom below the iconic De La Warr Pavilion & is also used for race registration plus bag drop.
The start line is on the prom with the finish line on the lawns of the DLWP
The relay changeover area is also in front of the rowing club.

Start Time

The race starts at 10am with a lead bike for the first lap. The event finishes at 4pm.

Car Parking

There is ample free car parking along the seafront & adjacent roads with all parking restrictions lifted on a Sunday. A pay & display car park is also available at the DLWP.

Drink Stations

These are located at the DLWP plus close to each turn & will be signposted in advance. There will also be drinks at the finish line.

First Aid/medical

If you require medical help please inform a marshal. We have a first aid station at the halfway point with a fully equipped mobile medic. Marshals are positioned along the entire course & are in contact with the race HQ. It is recommended that you complete the medical information on the reverse of your running number.

Toilets/showers/Changing rooms
There are toilets at the Rowing Club plus public toilets at three locations along the course which are clearly signed. There are showers & changing rooms at the Rowing Club.


The picturesque promenade course makes it perfect for spectators and supporters. The proximity of the course to the town centre of Bexhill means that there are many local cafes, restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. The iconic De La Warr Pavilion is also situated on Bexhill seafront.

Children's Races

The Starfish Junior Races will take place between 9:00am and 9:45am and are open to children aged up to 14 years old. There will be three races: 500 metres, 1km and 2km. The entry fee is £3 per race. There will be medals for all participants and prizes for the best sea-themed fancy dress.

Prize Giving & Prizes

Prize Giving will take place shortly after the first three of each race have completed the course.
