Welcome to the Market Harborough Carnival of Running 2017

Back for the 3rd year, this event continues to grow from strength to strength. With nearly a thousand runners across all distances last year, it is sure to be a great day of running. This year we are delighted that we are sponsored by both the Market Harborough Building Society and the Training Shed, St. Mary's Road.

Event details

  • 1 mile fancy dress fun run – a great way to complete a challenge as a family
  • 10km – a perfect way to challenge runners of all abilities
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles) – the ultimate distance for runners wanting more or for seasoned runners searching for a new race
  • Relay Challenge – enter the Half Marathon as a team of 4

The route has something for everyone with some crowd-lined closed roads, an idyllic rural village section through Great Bowden, Welham and Thorpe Langton and a spectacular finish at the Carnival Show Ground. Here you will be greeted by approximately 5000 cheering supporters. The course is fast with good PB potential but with a couple of cheeky hills. Burnmill Road at approximately 11 miles in, will certainly make it a race to remember.

Runners will benefit from:

  • Chip timing
  • Medal and T-shirt
  • Free photos
  • Free massage courtesy of the Training Shed, Market Harborough
  • Fantastic prizes up for grabs, including cash for our top 3 male and female Half Marathon finishers.

The Carnival of Running has become a major fundraising event for the town and local charities. In 2015 it raised approximately £25,000 and in 2016 approximately £30,000. For this event we’re supporting The Squires Effect. We will be donating a proportion of each entry. For each of the last two years, we have donated £2500.

In addition, you can RACE FOR FREE if you pledge to raise at least £150 for the charity. Simply enter the race, then email

They will give you full details of the support package that they provide.

If you are running for your own selected charity there are numerous ways to do this, the first would be to notify the particular charity that you intend to run and fundraise for. You can then start getting sponsors or set up your own personal JustGiving or VirginMoneyGiving page to do so online.

For more details about the event, please see our website.

There is no strict cut-off for this event. It would however  be much appreciated if you think that it will take you more than 3 hours, to get in touch.
