HALF MARATHON RELAY |
9th June 2018 - 10.30 start
Back for the 4th year, this event continues to grow from strength to strength. With nearly a thousand runners across all distances last year, it is sure to be a great day of running. This year we are delighted that we are sponsored by both the Market Harborough Building Society and the Training Shed, St. Mary's Road.
The route has something for everyone with some crowd-lined closed roads, an idyllic rural village section through Great Bowden, Welham and Thorpe Langton and a spectacular finish at the Carnival Show Ground. Here you will be greeted by approximately 5000 cheering supporters. The course is fast with good PB potential but with a couple of cheeky hills. Burnmill Road at approximately 11 miles in, will certainly make it a race to remember.
Runners will benefit from:
The Carnival of Running has become a major fundraising event for the town and local charities. Since 2015, approximately £75,000 has been raised by runners at this event. Since the event started in 2015, we’ve supported The Squires Effect. We will be donating a proportion of each entry. For each of the last three years, we have donated £2500.
In addition, you can RACE FOR FREE if you pledge to raise at least £150 for the charity. Simply enter the race, then email thesquireseffect@gmail.com.
They will give you full details of the support package that they provide.
If you are running for your own selected charity there are numerous ways to do this, the first would be to notify the particular charity that you intend to run and fundraise for. You can then start getting sponsors or set up your own personal JustGiving or VirginMoneyGiving page to do so online.
For more details about the event, please see our website. We will update 2018 details as they become available.
There is no strict cut-off for this event. However, if you think that it will take you more than 3 hours, please get in touch.
Age limit of 13yrs for the 5k, 15yrs for the 10K and 17yrs for the HM.
The start time for this event has changed from last year. The 5K, 10K and HM will start in three waves from 10.30am. The Fun Run will be before this.
There are 350 available entries for each of the 5K, 10K and HM distances. You can make changes to your entry by logging into your Rider HQ account. This includes changing the distance and transferring your entry to another runner. When a particular distance sells out, it will not be possible to transfer to that distance. We anticipate that this will be at least a month beforehand. The ability to make your own changes will be disabled on 26th May 2018. After this point, any changes can only be done on the day. This will incur a £5 admin fee payable on the day.
