The Ashtead 10k and 2k fun run is annually organised by Ashtead Running Group, and raises funds for Rianna's Fun, a local charity. The race take places entirely on rough tracks around Ashtead Common, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its breeding birds and a National Nature Reserve due to the decaying wood of ancient trees and the rare invertebrates that live in it. The site includes two ancient Scheduled Monuments - a Roman villa and a triangular earthwork. The race takes place with the kind permission of the Ashtead Common Rangers and the Corporation of the City of London. THE RACE IS NOT FLAT! It's best described as undulating. Following a massed hornet attack on runners in 2010, we cannot guarantee that the course will be hornet-free (we have not seen the hornets since though).

This is 'The Greenest Race in Britain' - we encourage all participants to use public transport (train station is 1 minute's walk from the HQ/start), walk, run, cycle or crawl to the race (or at least car share!). In 2019 the race will be half the cost that it was in 2017 - but there will not be a t-shirt - just an eco-medal.
