Event information

This session is for adults (15+) who didn’t learn how to cycle when they were younger or found it difficult, but are still determined to give it a go and learn to ride. During the hour-long session, we’ll get you started on an adult Strider Balance Bike in order to learn the balance to cycling, before moving onto a mountain bike to get the technique of pedalling sorted - we find this is the easiest and quickest method to learning to cycle.

Our Adult Learn to Ride sessions have a relaxed feel and take place on the Inner Track and MUGA (Multi-Use Games Area), away from the banking of the Main Track. This is an open space with no obstacles. As everyone will progress at slightly different speeds the session isn’t group based but rather individual, with the coach helping everyone throughout the session.

The goal of the session is to be able to pedal a bicycle unassisted and be confident in braking safely.

We will provide all equipment for the session included in the price, but you are welcome to bring your own bikes and helmets.

It’s recommended to have someone you’re comfortable with come along to the session and work with you, meaning you’ll always have someone to offer pointers and tips when the coach is with other people.

We can provide you with pointers and information on your progress for you to take home so you can keep learning outside the track.

As I’m sure you know, practise makes perfect, so don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t come to you straight away, just keep on at it and you’ll be cycling in no time.
