With a field containing many strong riders and a windy day, this race was always likely to break up, and so it proved, riders largely finishing alone.
The early laps were livened up with a few riders keen to test the resolve of the bunch, notably Joe Perrett. Martin Smith and Dean Shannon held a minute's advantage for a couple of laps, but with one lap to go there were four small groups left in contention.
Wouter Sybrandy rode away from the leading group with around 5 miles to go and held on to win by 10 seconds from Joe Perrett with Russell Hampton a further 10 back in third, having recovered from a mechanical to ride back up and through the groups.
Other finishers trickled home with 20th placed Mark Porter the last to finish of the 44 starters, some 15 minutes after the winner.
